And now, if your blindfolds are all in place, panel...

Will tonight’s mystery guests enter and sign in, please!

Actually, panel, tonight we have not one but twelve mystery guests!

Six of them are human and six of them are equine.

Panel, you may now remove your blindfolds.

Your task, panel, is simply this: Without consulting Wikipedia or Google or any other search engine or enyclopedia, either online or offline, identify each of our human mystery guests and each of our equine mystery guests.

Good luck!

  5. jinksy, bother.

Putz, Tonto is not one of the answers. Tonto was the name of the Lone Ranger's native American sidekick, played by Jay Silverheels. The Lone Ranger was played by Clayton Moore.

Putz (continued), hilarious! So you got three of the humans and one of the horses (Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Dale Evans, Trigger). But "the older Roy Rogers" and "the older Trigger" are both wrong!

Lightening, or Lightning, was a character on Amos and Andy as I recall -- the slow-talking, slow-moving janitor, hence the nickname.

    Not the Sundance Kid, either.

    But great guesses!

  8. Putz, yup (as they say), one of them is Hopalong Cassidy (actor William Boyd)!

Sis, yes, there are twelve! Not ten, twelve! You simply must become intimately acquainted with the concept of scrolling and/or the use of the "up" and "down" cursor keys before another moment goes by.

  9. Not many takers today. I'm shocked.

I guess I will just have to tell you who our mystery couples are:

    1. Roy Rogers and Trigger
    2. Gene Autry and Champion
    3. Dale Evans and Buttermilk
    4. Hopalong Cassidy and Topper
    5. Tom Mix and Tony (these were favorites of my Dad, going all the way back to silent movies)

and the only non-cowboy in the bunch,

    6. General Robert E. Lee and Traveller

General Lee made it into my blog for three days in a row!

Do I win - even though I am - what one American gentleman once called me - a limey bastard?

  12. Dr. John, you got 5 out of 6 humans and 3 out of 6 horses correct. That was not General Grant; that was General Lee. Right time frame; wrong side. See my previous comment for the correct answers.

Yorkshire Pudding, yes, but how do I know you didn't just look at my comment upstream where I gave all the answers, huh, huh????

I suppose I should give even a (an?) L.B. the benefit of the doubt, although the last time we did that we you people burned the White House.

  15. I am too young for most of these. *smirk*
My favourite was The Phantom. When I was in my early teens I used to fantasise about being carried swooning in his manly arms. His horse's name was Hero. I refuse to look up the actor's name. I want him to remain Real.

  16. Sis, you have one very strange computer. I understand the newer ones are powered by electricity.

Katherine, I must be too old.
    (*definite non-smirk*)

I don't know who The Phantom is, or that he had a horse, or that the horse's name was Hero. I do know that Hero swam the Hellespont every night to reach Leander, or maybe it's vice versa, but I never knew he or she was a horse.

  18. Sis, whoa! Apparently my attempt at humor fell flat. I didn't mean to get you so riled up. I wasn't attacking you. I wasn't putting you down. Lighten up!

For the record, I have no idea how to fix your computer's problem. So much for my highly educated level of brilliance.

  19. Robert, what an excellent education you had - even including the classics. I had to get what little I have from 'Classics' comics and the Children's Request Session' on our radio.
But I do know another Hero - she who was so wrongly slandered in "Much Ado About Nothing".
But I'm afraid I have never read it properly. Just watched the movie.
