Have a gumball?

If you have one of these, you’ll chip a tooth. They ain’t gumballs, baby, they’re marbles, and not just any marbles, either. They’re part of a display called The Marble Wall at the Moon Marble Company, 600 East Front Street, Bonner Springs, Kansas 66012-1122, telephone 913-441-1432.

There are lots of things to do at the Moon Marble Company. You can take a guided tour:

or visit the Moon Marble Museum:

You can play marbles (but only if you’re a Cub Scout...

...or an Amish girl):

You can even see a fascinating marble-making or marble-sorting or marble-something-or-other demonstration (but only if you are Chinese):

You’ll have loads and loads of fun!

Then, if you need to, you can visit the Moon Marble Museum Bathroom:

I think my temporary obsession with marbles has now ended, not that I have obsessions or anything like that.

Bonner Springs, Kansas, is also home to the Agriculture Hall of Fame:

Coordinates: 39°4′0″N 94°52′45″W

I believe I will have a gumball, after all.

Thank you for asking....

  1. I think I have lost my marbles! Wasn't there a different post about marbles here yesterday?

That Bonner Springs, KS would be the home of a marble emporium would never have entered my mind.

Thanks for sharing the more recent photo of yourself, and Mrs. RWP. It's nice to put a face to a blogging friend.

  2. Pat, you haven't lost your marbles at all! That different post is still here, right under this one! You just didn't know it was about marbles until you clicked on done of the links in it! Did you forget? Yesterday was a day, just like today.

  3. I didn't mean that yesterday was a day just like today, I meant that yesterday was a day, just like today. See the difference?

  4. I hope that one day I will visit your wonderful country once again. Next time I will ensure that Bonner Springs, Kansas tops my itinerary. The way you have painted it, it sounds like the cultural capital of the USA. I hope they have an Arby's and a Taco Belle there so that Mrs Pudding and I can enjoy sophisticated nights out. We'd choose candlelit window seats and reflect upon the town's fascinating museum quarter, architecture and history. We'd also pop in to the Robert Brague Ear Museum, waxing lyrical about its gruesome contents.

  6. YP, they may have a Taco Bell, but you'll have to find your own Taco Belle. Perhaps Shirley can hold a rose in her teeth and dance the flamenco.

The juxtaposition of "Robert Brague Ear Museum" and "waxing" and "gruesome contents" made me spit Coca-Cola (drink of the stars) all over my computer monitor. I hold you personally responsible.

Lady's Life, in real life the shirt doesn't look quite as electric as it does when converted into pixels.

  7. Yep! I forgot! What I had in my memory were the photos on the Moon Marbles web page.

What was that you were saying on my blog about my keeping my mind sharp? Seems I need all the help I can get!

  8. Pat, is the thaw in Arkansas causing everything to start running together? That wasn't me telling you to keep your mind sharp on your blog, that was Betsy from Tennessee. I responded by telling Betsy that telling you how to keep your mind active was like telling Niagara Falls how to flow. I stand by my original statement that you "don't need no help"!

  9. I love marbles, always have. There's a wooden box in the corner full of them! I'm considering making some into jewellery, but most shall stay as they are, lovely items all on their own.

  10. All Consuming, I agree, I love marbles also. When I was a boy I had a couple of round tins in which fruitcake had come originally that I saved to open on rainy days when I couldn't play outdoors. One contained buttons, and the other contained marbles.

Perhaps a psychiatrist could make something of this.
