Brilliant!

Here’s the latest quotation making the rounds on Facebook:

“I could end the deficit in 5 minutes,” Warren Buffett told CNBC. “You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP*, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.”

I hope it’s genuine, but even if it isn’t from Warren Buffett, it’s still a darned good idea.

*Gross Domestic Product, as opposed to GNP (Gross National Product) or NNI (Net National Income) or a number of other economic factors.

For a list (three lists, actually -- take your pick) of countries by GDP (nominal), click here. Our old friend Tuvalu is 190th of 191 countries on the third list. I’m just sayin’....

  1. That would certainly concentrate the minds of the politicians.

The GDP list is interesting too, if only for knowing that Tuvalu isn't at the bottom of it!

  2. "New Tart Buffer" is an anagram of Warren Buffett. Tarts look very nice when newly buffed.
"Eat Borer Grub" is an anagram of Robert Brague. The borer grub is especially tasty and often found munching through antique furniture.

  4. Thanks to Shooting Parrots and Pat in Arkansas for comments that indicate you are actually reading my blog.

A special shout-out to Yorkshire Pudding: Re tarts, you should know. Re the borer grub, in contrast to it I have excellent taste and am often found sprawled out upon antique furniture.

Mr. Barlow (Putz), you simply must stop responding to a comment I leave on your blog on my blog. Doing so is very confusing, even when I (and probably only I) know that you mean Prufrock and not Lovelock. So you have a bald spot on your head. I dare to eat a peach. Once again, we are not quite twins.
