Overruled

On the way home from picking up Jethro this afternoon, I saw a sign attached to a fence and it was calling my name. I wanted to turn the car around and go back and take a picture of it to put on my blog, but Mrs. RWP wouldn’t hear of it.

It’s your loss, but there is more than one way to skin a cat. I may not be able to post a photograph, but thanks to my vast grasp of written English and my not-yet-vanished short-term memory, I will just tell you about it instead.

The sign read:

FREE MANURE

  1. Sneak out of the house while she's in the bathroom if you have to, but GET THAT PICTURE.

  3. Snow, I am thinking on how I might go about getting it, but you are not helping by sowing marital discord!

Friendly-J, welcome to my blog and to Blogworld in general. I am going to drop by your blog to have a look....

  4. Why is a sign with 'free manure' priceless? I don't get it :-(
If it is horse manure, it is very good for your garden. But that isn't funny at all. It is just true.

  5. I'm just glad that you remembered accurately that it was "manure"!

  6. Yep, a thousand words is worth a picture, lol. We were intrigued while in Indiana by a sign in front of an electric-blue house. The sign said, "Indiana School of Backflow." Still curious about that one...

  8. If I try that again, maybe I can get the spelling right:

Nothing is priceless unless someone thinks it so, and Rhymes thought this priceless, and Rhymes is never wrong except when he disagrees with me. By the way, you can use what I just said as a way to know if Rhymes is wrong or right. I call it "The Snowbrush Scale for Determining the Accuracy of Pronouncements by Rhymes."

  9. Who is Manure? Some kind of racial activist following in the footsteps of Martin Luther King? I agree we should free him! Free Manure!

  10. You (well, I) never know which posts will generate comments and which ones won't. This one did. Thanks, all, for another day in Blogworld.

Carolina, you just had to be there, I guess. Plus, I'm at heart a city boy, or maybe a country boy whose been around the block a few times. It struck me as humorous and an oddity; who can say why, really? But you certainly wouldn't be finding a sign like that in the center of Philadelphia.

Shooting Parrots (what an unusual name), this is blog even children can read.

Rosezilla, did the electric-blue have anything to do with the backflow, I wonder?

Snow, thanks for rushing to my defense with Carolina! But I didn't say the sign was priceless, Friendly-J did.

Yorkshire Pudding, I knew it was just a matter of time until someone saw a verb and a direct object instead of an adjective and a noun. Who better than a retired English teacher?

Always true to you, darlin’, in my fashion
