Guillermo y Catalina

...as Prince William and his Kate, el duque y la duquesa de Cambridge, are known in Spain, have welcomed this evening a bambino a papoose un niño pequeño, that is, the most darling little boy in the history of the entire world, to hear the folks in the media tell about it. The still-namesless waif weighed in at
8 lbs., 6 oz., and simultaneously made a grandmother out of
the late Princess Diana, a step-grandma out of the Duchess of Cornwall, a grandpa out of the Prince of Wales, and a great-grandmum out of another simple English girl, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Rumour (note British spelling) has it that another family, Middlebrooke or Middlesex or something, is also peripherally involved.

The hoopla has already begun.

It is being reported that the inhabitants of the British Isles have gone on a huge bender, purchasing three million bottles of champagne for the occasion.

We may not be hearing from Yorkshire Pudding, All Consuming, klahanie, or Elizabeth Stanforth-Sharpe for some time.

And eventually we will learn whether the new little prince is a Carlos, a Felipe, an Arturo, or a Jorge.

  2. Señor Pudding, I suspect that all England and major portions of Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland are "happy and glorious" today. I do hope you are not wedded to the idea that the new tyke will be named "Prince Robocop"....

  3. The royal grandparents are in my town today, celebrating at the local chippy with a bag of Jack's best, with mushy peas and haddock, washed down with a mug of tea. Bizarre, but absolutely true.

    Champagne is SO...o...o yesterday.

  4. Elizabeth, stranger things have happened, I suppose, such as Imogen Lloyd Webber, the daughter of Andrew Lloyd Webber, becoming a political analyst for Rupert Murdoch's network; or Beatrice and Eugenie, the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York, wearing those funny hats at some wedding a couple of years back. But I can't think of many. Oh, yes, Prince Harry's trip to Las Vegas.

  6. Elizabeth, thank you for the link proving that Charles and Camilla were indeed out and about in your neck of the woods. I would have to say that up close and in person in those excellent photographs Charles seems to be holding up much better than his Missus.
