  1. But why was the Queen Mother absent RWP? or was she taking the family happy snap?

A different photo? But a blimp on our news here in Oz.

  2. I like the retro angle. I have an old book which is royal themed and has just sprung to mind- Princess Mary's Giftbook 1914. It is missing a couple of colour plates, and somewhat tatty, but has stories by author's such as J.M. Barrie, A. Conan Doyle, Rudyard Kipling and H. Rider Haggard.I think you'd like it. My mother loves royalty yet finds the book 'dirty' - in a grubby sense, and will have nothing to do with it. I feel somewhat the opposite way round. It's a funny old world we live in.

  3. Oh, I am slow just now. So slow it seems. I forgot, and keep forgetting, I meant to say I hope you're feeling a little better as the days pass. It's horrible weather here, dark and foreboding - if you have some sun at your end, get the kettle on, I'll be over in ten**.
    *packs swiftly just in case.
(** - ideally minutes, more likely years.)

  4. A few smiles might have been nice. Being a member of the royal family is obviously a serious matter. (And they are more than welcome to it.)

  5. Carol, I do not know where the Queen Mother was. Perhaps this is a photo of Charles's godparents, or possibly the only members of the royal family who were speaking to each other at the time.

All Consuming, I am feeling better as the days pass (thank you for asking). The weather here is clear but on the coolish side. We are expecting our first frost tonight (temps below 32F or 0C). The kettle is on.

Elephant's Child, I don't know when it was that people began smiling in photographs. They didn't for years and years, though, and that's a fact.
