Hello, world! This blog began on September 28, 2007, and so far nobody has come looking for me
with tar and feathers.
On my honor, I will do my best not to bore you. All comments are welcome
as long as your discourse is civil and your language is not blue.
Happy reading, and come back often!
And whether my cup is half full or half empty, fill my cup, Lord.

Six of these seven have something in common
If you can’t identify them all, they are (or were):
Jean Stapleton (20th-century American actress in her role as Edith Bunker on All In The Family)
Louis Armstrong (20th-century American musician)
Dolly Parton (20th-century American singer/songwriter/performer)
Edgar Allan Poe (19th-century American author)
Al Joyner (20th-century American Olympian athlete)
Janis Joplin (20th-century American singer/songwriter/performer)
Robert E. Lee (19th-century American military leader)
Which one doesn’t have what the other six have (or had)?
For purposes of this quiz, Olympic medals, Emmys, Oscars, Grammys, Tonys, and the ability to play the trumpet don’t count.
Here is a big hint: The contest ends at midnight tonight. Look for the answer tomorrow!

Here are some mangled aphorisms I have stumbled upon over the years: 1. If you can keep your head when all anout you are losing thei...
I only know the answer to the question: which one does have what the others don't or didn't have.

ReplyDeleteCarolina, how cryptic! I presume you are talking about Louis Armstrong's trumpet. And that, of course, is a wrong answer.
ReplyDeleteIt's the right and fairly obvious answer to your question (which one does have what the others don't or didn't have) but it's not the answer to my question (which one doesn't have what the other six have or had)....
Carolina, P.S., if that's not what you meant, I have no idea what you are talking about, so please tell us what you meant.

ReplyDeleteActually, my first thought were Dolly Parton's obvious assets. Or Mr. Lee's beard. Or Mr. Joyner's speed. But those are still not the answers to your original question of course.
ReplyDelete;-)
Sis (Carolyn, as far as I know, Edgar Allan Poe and Robert E Lee were not musicians....
ReplyDeleteCarolina, you're right, they're not the answers to my question.
I know! Apart from Mr Poe. they didn't know how to use the possessive apostrophe?
ReplyDeleteHey, how did you get bold in the comments Robert? I'm jealous.
ReplyDeleteI'm finding this a very difficult quiz :-O
ReplyDeleteIf my internet connection wasn't losing the will to live (I keep reviving it and I'm getting really annoyed) I'd be googling like mad to read about all these people. Somehow I have the feeling the answer is forehead slappingly obvious. But perhaps not...
i JUST don't KNOW
