Hello, world! This blog began on September 28, 2007, and so far nobody has come looking for me
with tar and feathers.
On my honor, I will do my best not to bore you. All comments are welcome
as long as your discourse is civil and your language is not blue.
Happy reading, and come back often!
And whether my cup is half full or half empty, fill my cup, Lord.

Better late than never
Last Saturday -- a whole week ago -- Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977) would have been 75 years old, and nary a word about it did I hear. Must have been pre-empted by all the William and Kate specials.
One of the people in the preceding paragraph will be king, God willing, but one of them already was.

Post-election thoughts
Here are some mangled aphorisms I have stumbled upon over the years: 1. If you can keep your head when all anout you are losing thei...
I somehow escaped the Elvis craze; when he hit the big time, I was aleady married, had borne a child and my mind was on other things. I never did enjoy the man's music, just tolerated it. I admit I'm an old fogy.
ReplyDeleteI do hope that Elizabeth II lives a long, long time. I'm not ready for a KING of England.
Elvis came along when I was in high school. All the girls went completely crazy over him; I could never see the attraction musically, although I could understand their attraction sexually (clarification: I'm not saying I was attracted to Elvis sexually, just that I certainly understood the girls' attraction to him. Who wouldn't want to look like that and have that kind of attraction on the opposite sex?)
ReplyDeleteAnd that was also the problem the parents of that era had with Elvis as well.
goodness, gracious, what a pair of glumps you two are, pat from big A and rhymes wit<><><>there has never been or will be greater music, and yes when i was in high school<><><><><><>><><><><<>><><<><><<>><><><><><><><><<>><><<><
ReplyDeleteaside from the classical venue, i praise the king, but i''ll admit i love alll the b's bach beethoven bocelli brahms,
ReplyDeletePutz/David/, from your first comment I glean that you went back (<<<<<<<) and forth (>>>>>>>) but mostly back and forth (<><><><><><>) and were therefore a very indecisive young man. From your second comment, I'd say you left out beyoncé, bono, and dietrich buxtehude. Inadvertently, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteVerification word is curess, which rhymes with duress, which is what I seem to be under more and more lately.
thanks FOR THE YOUNG MAN comment
ReplyDeleteI say old chap - it was rather spiffing of you to post those splendid photographs of my beloved Catherine and oneself upon the occasion of our engagement. Following our wedding in April, we wish to enjoy a secret and anonymous roadtrip across our colonies in America, staying here and there and generally "getting down in the hood". Would it be possible for us to spend a night in your Georgia mansion? I like "Cheerios" for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteWilliam, old chap, old buddy, old pal, are you saying we are now engaged and will be married in April? Any roadtrip I enjoy with you will, of necessity, have to be secret and anonymous; I understand completely. How many bananas do you want with your your Cheerios?
ReplyDeleteOr is it possible that I have misconstrued what you are saying?
