It's very hot but there's been a slight break in the weather around these parts. It's probably only temporary but it is very welcome. A few days ago our high was 97°F (36°C) here in Cherokee County with a heat index (factoring in humidity) of 104°F (40°C). That same day the high temperature in Plano, Texas, where I have relatives, was 105°F. I don't even want to think about the heat index.
In contrast, at 11 a.m. today our temperature was 74°F (23°C) and I actually felt a cool breeze while walking Abby.
I repeat, this little break in the heat is very welcome. We still have the rest of July, all of August, and part of September to go before the hope of having an early autumn would even be a remote possibility.
How is it where you live?
Hello, world! This blog began on September 28, 2007, and so far nobody has come looking for me
with tar and feathers.
On my honor, I will do my best not to bore you. All comments are welcome
as long as your discourse is civil and your language is not blue.
Happy reading, and come back often!
And whether my cup is half full or half empty, fill my cup, Lord.

How soon we forget
Today is the 61st anniversary of an event that changed forever the course of American history and the world as we knew it. As far as I kno...
We are having a cold, wet winter. There have been more floods and more mould.
ReplyDeleteIt won't be long before we suffer through the 104 degree days.
kylie, one would almost think you are living in another hemisphere.
DeleteHi Bob!!! It is FINALLY Summer here in the great Pacific Northwest! After an insanely dreary and wet Winter, Spring and beginning of Summer, we are having glorious sunshine every day. My garden is ecstatic (translated: looks like a tropical jungle) and the 10-day forecast calls for temps between 75-80 for the next ten days! (Hmmm...I think I hear the Hallelujah chorus!) Thanks for asking, Bob!
ReplyDeletePam, it's good to hear from you. Your weather sounds wonderful. I know northwest Washington gets a lot of rain, just as we did when we lived in Palm Beach County, Florida. Here it's either feast or famine. If I had a garden, it would not be ecstatic right now.
DeleteThe southern portion of the UK is about to hit the high 30s and even 40s in record breakingly hot weather. Here on Lewis today it's dull with a cold breeze and 14ºC (57℉).
ReplyDeleteGraham, I read that here in Atlanta we're having the fourth-hottest summer since records began being kept. I can't imagine it being 40 C in England!
