Time marches on

Yesterday was the birthday of Ron Howard, the actor-producer-screenwriter-director who played Opie on The Andy Griffith Show and sang "Gary, Indiana" in The Music Man.

He is now 71 years old.

I am in a state of shock.

  1. My kids call him Opie Cunningham. He was such a cutie when he was little.

    1. But we both know it was Opie Taylor and Richie Cunningham, don’t we? I still can’t get over his age. Thank you, Emma.

  2. Ron Howard is many years older than I am so I am less shocked than you are. Having said that, I knew him as Richie then I didn't know anything until he seemed to suddenly be a middle aged director. How did that happen?

  3. How that happened is told in the title of the post: Time marches on. Ron Howard’s non-acting work includes Night Shift, Splash, Cocoon, Apollo 13, How The Grinch Stole Christmas, A Beautiful Mind. But to me he will always be the little boy Opie Taylor on The Andy Griffith Show and the teenager Richie Cunningham on Happy Days. Thank you, kylie.
