Happy Bastille Day!

After not having seen Jeopardy! at all in several months (can you say 'cold turkey'?), I watched an episode on Friday and knew three answers none of the contestants knew, namely:
What is Bewitched?
What is Bonanza?
What is (are?) the New York Mets?
The three contestants were all Gen Z'ers, and host Ken Jennings said they made him feel old.
Me too.
Of course, I am old, but that is beside the point.
Or maybe that is the point. At least I know what Bastille Day is.

Did someone in the Trump administration claim not to know the USA has a hurricane season? Surely, everyone in the world knows that. Maybe people (some) really are as ill-informed (educated) as they seem.

DeleteI knew the answers to the questions and, of course, knew what Bastille Day is. However there is a lovely irony. I suddenly realised that I didn't know the age definition of a Gen Z'ers. I do now!
ReplyDeleteYou and I are remnants of what was "the silent generation"; the Baby Boomers started in 1946 (post-WW2) and ended in 1964. Gen X began in 1965, followed by Gen Y, and Gen Z. People are now talking about Gen Alpha and Gen Beta. This may go on for some time yet, at least until the end of the Greek alphabet is reached. We will be ancient history by that point. I'm so sorry to hear about your Milly. I have associated you with greyhounds in days gone by, I think. Was Milly a greyhound? Our Abby just had turned 9 and I am nowhere near ready to think about losing her.
