The Ministry of Truth is alive and well

...just in case you were wondering.

Orwell was just a few years early with the title of his famous novel, that’s all. (But you can’t really blame him. After all, 1984 was published way back in 1949.)

Things are getting more and more double-plus-ungood all the time.

Here’s proof.

I’m finally beginning to listen to the news the way people in the Soviet Union used to do. Whatever the official line is, the very opposite is probably what is happening.

  1. And then there are his human rights abuses . Didn't we used to have something called a Bill of Rights? When the evening news is reporting about some celebrity's latest faux pas, you would think that might find enough time to say something about that. The country is in for some hard, hard times that might even threaten its survival. About that, you and I agree.

  2. I must be very careful. 'Big bother' is watching me. We have an evil government in Britain that is monitoring all we do.

If I speak out about how they are punishing the poor, the ill, the vulnerable for the mistakes of the incompetent fortunate, I may well be put away.

Must go now and watch RTV, which is Russian Television.

Be well, comrade. I'm outta' here....

  3. But Robert, with respect, do you really think any single country's leader can correct a problem that is the result of a flawed world-wide economic paradigm? ie buy buy buy?

  4. I agree with Snowbrush, I commiserate with klahanie (Gary), and I must tell Katherine that I don't think he is trying to correct the problem, I think he is purposely making the problem worse.

  5. I head on the news yesterday that Obama has prosecuted four times more whistle-blowers than Bush. It doesn't matter that they're telling the truth, or that the people they tell the truth about are evil; Obama doesn't want the truth to be known. I hate him even more than I hated Bush, and that's saying a lot. I also heard on the news that the wars Bush started (and Obama continued) comes to $4000 per household, and here we are about to go into yet another war that can't possibly do us any good, but that will definitely make the Moslem world hate us even more.

  6. Snowy, our Glorious Leader and his administration want us all to toe the mark, spout the Party Line, be nice little robots, and do (and believe) what we're told.

    Fat chance.
