  1. I remember the first time I came across familiar names in unfamiliar locations (only in UK) when I was very young and wondered if my world had shrunk!

    I remember reading about Lebanon and wondering why everything in the context seemed to be American.
    It shouldn't have been so surprising, really. Australia has dozens of places named after European counterparts

    1. The surprise ought not to be that naming places after other places happens but that it doesn’t happen more often. A whole post could be made about “New” this it that, from New York to New South Wales. Maybe I will do that one day. Thank you, kylie!
