Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear!

No, I’m not talking about this.

I’m talking about this (3:26).

Who needs the Lone Ranger, Tonto, or the strains of Rossini’s “The William Tell Overture” when you can have President Ronald Reagan’s 1981 Christmas address to the nation!

How times (and presidents) have changed since 1981.

  4. How times have changed indeed. I can't imagine any leader making such an inspiring statement, but then I always was a great fan of the Lone Ranger!

Have a very merry Christmas and happy blogging in 2012.

  5. I wish you and your family a blessed and peaceful Christmas, RWP. I know you probably will be playing your fingers off while folks sing joyous Christmas music at church. I wish I could be there.

  7. It's Christmas Eve and I must be hurrying off to play the piano at church, but not before wishing Elisabeth and Ian in the U.K., Pat in Arkansas, and Lady in British Columbia
a blessed Christmas Eve, a merry Christmas Day, and so on and so forth into the New Year and throughout 2012.

  8. I doubt that Reagan wrote this speech himself - whereas the gifted Obama is a master of the spoken word and genuinely speaks from the heart. Reagan was dope but Obama brings hope!
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS ROBERT!

  9. Mr. Pudding President Obama does not seem able to speak coherently without the aid of a teleprompter. This has been demonstrated on several public occasions to the dismay and consternation of every right-thinking American.

  10. I remember listening to this speech and feeling warm and inspired and proud of my President. I was 20 years old and expecting my first child. Now he's 30 and just had his second.
