Wait, wait, don’t tell me (movie quiz #17,643).

Can you name the movie, the actor, and the character?

No fair Googling.

1. “I speak for all mediocrities in the world. I am their champion. I am their patron saint.”

2. “If you want me, just whistle. You know how to whistle don't you? Just put your lips together and blow.”

3. “Fasten your seat belts; it’s going to be a bumpy night.”

4. “Her insides were a barren place where my seed could find no purchase.”

5. “Money, you should pardon the expression, is like manure: it doesn’t do any good unless you spread it around.” (two possible answers)

6. “Love him a little less. Help him a little more.”

7. “As God is my witness, I’ll never be hungry again.”

8. “I’m sorry, Dave. I’m afraid I can’t do that.”

9. “All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up.”

10. “Stella! Stella!”

Most of these should be rather easy if you’re of a certain age. If you’re not, I’m afraid I can’t help you. You’re on your own.

  1. Number 4 is Nicholas Cage as H.I. McDunnough in "Raising Arizona" and it is definitely NOT, as some might think, Ronald Reagan talking about Nancy.

  2. Y.P., congratulations, you are correct about Nicholas Cage, Raising Arizona, and H.I. McDunnough! But you are incorrect about Ronald Reagan's Nancy, who gave him both Patty Davis and Ron Reagan Jr. to go with Michael and Maureen, his children from his first marriage to Jane Wyman.

  3. No mater which age I stand at, this woill forever be an impossible task, as I've never been an avid film goer- mostly due to lack of funds, combined with no local cinema! :)

  7. Jinksy, no cinema??? You've led a deprived life, missy!

Putz, you are partly right on Number 8, yes. HAL the computer was the actor and HAL the computer was also the role, but what was the name of the movie? Your other comment seems related to Number 2 somehow, but I cannot give you any credit for your answer as you did not identify the movie, the actor, or the role. Score: 10.

Jeannelle, bingo on Number 7! You're absolutely correct. You have also achieved a score of 10.

  8. I am of a "certain age" and knew only one of them. Not much of a movie watcher, I fear.

RWP, thanks for the gladsome welcome back. :) I'll email particulars soon.

  10. Number 2 sounds like Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall so I am guessing it's Lauren Bacall. Don't know the film.
Clever pickup by Putz. I'd never have got that one.
    Cheers

  11. Oh and No 10 is Marlon Brando I think. Could be "A Streetcar Named Desire "though I've never seen it. Think I saw a Seinfeld episode where Elaine was staggering around saying "Stella, Stella " after taking some sort of medication.
