I spent Saturday afternoon with a few thousand of my closest friends

...at a college football game over in Alabama. Here are some of the highlights:

For those who were wondering, our team soundly defeated the other team. The final score was 59 to 23.

  1. Looks like you and Mrs RWP are enjoying some wonderful times with family! Your weather is definitely more pleasant for outdoor activities than ours! We've had a cool breeze and downpours today! No matter, the fire in the cook stove is warm and cozy and I just made an iced raspberry-apple pie! If you hurry, we'll save you each a piece!

  2. Emma, after a slow first quarter that saw our side fall behind 14-7, the team rallied for EIGHT touchdowns, EIGHT extra points, and a FIELD GOAL, winning over the team from Kentucky by a score of, did I mention it before?, 59-23! It was a blowout! The band, of course, is the best one in the entire country.

Pam/Hilly, good to hear from you. We are having pneumonia weather, actually, warm one week and blustery cold the next, then back to warm. Today it's overcast and rather chilly, but game day was great, lots of sunshine and temperature around 70.

  3. I think that that big ruby red flower above your left ear is a nice finishing touch. Something like a Spanish flamenco dancer. Oh and thanks for sharing more lovely pictures from the Brague family album.

  4. Yorkshire P., your comments are important to us and will be serviced in the order received. That red (and black, don't forget black) splotch is not a big ruby red flower as you suppose, it is a "pom pom" on a stick, one of hundreds in the stadium that day. If you look closely you can see somebody's arm and hand waving it a few feet behind where we were standing for the picture. I must admit at first glance it does seem that someone has spilled blood or strawberry jam on the photograph.
