This morning I counted 41 of my little Psilocybe semilanceata visitors (I do not say friends) growing in the green, green grass behind my home. Shortly afterward, Mrs. RWP and I packed our bags, gathered up our little dog Abby, and left the premises to spend a few days with our daughter’s family in Alabamistan.
I hasten to add that there is no cause-and-effect relationship between these two events. None whatsoever.
Hello, world! This blog began on September 28, 2007, and so far nobody has come looking for me
with tar and feathers.
On my honor, I will do my best not to bore you. All comments are welcome
as long as your discourse is civil and your language is not blue.
Happy reading, and come back often!
And whether my cup is half full or half empty, fill my cup, Lord.

Post-election thoughts
Here are some mangled aphorisms I have stumbled upon over the years: 1. If you can keep your head when all anout you are losing thei...
Hopefully there will be no more visitors when you return. But I wouldn't count on it.
ReplyDeleteHave fun. Hopefully the shrooms won't have taken over the homestead by the time you return.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you went away to Alabamistan because if the Psilocybe continued to proliferate you might become trapped in the yard, forever counting......
ReplyDeleteDo not be surprised if when you return from Alabama you discover that your entire property is covered with these invading mushrooms. The story could easily be picked up by Hollywood. I wonder who would play your part now that Burl Ives is no longer available. Perhaps Johnny Depp?
ReplyDeleteDo you think it wise to leave your yard unguarded? Perhaps in your absence, your little invaders will not only take over the rest of the yard, but begin to creep into your garage...and then up your sidewalk and under your front door....and spread little fungi spores throughout your wall-to-wall carpeting.....Well, try to enjoy your visit with family ;-)
ReplyDeleteEverybody: The visitors have all left. Even though wet periods continue, the days are warmer now, so perhaps that is what encouraged them to move on.
ReplyDeleteYP: Fernando Lamas would be perfect.
