This will be my 50th post of the year

...and it's not even the end of April yet, so I am on track to create 150 posts this year. It is tiring just to think about. Last year I managed to produce only 79. Whether my posts are important or trivial, fun or boring, intelligent or stupid is not for me to determine, and in any event making that determination is way above my pay grade.

Only you can make that determination, just as only you can prevent forest fires.

After not leaving the house for over a month, I have now been to the grocery store twice wearing one of the masks that our daughter-in-law sewed for us. There was no way I was going to make it there during the Exclusively Senior Citizens Hour (7 to 8 a.m.) but I managed to get there around 9:45 the first time and 11 the second time. There were remarkably few customers either time so I didn't have to be concerned about social distancing much. I also wore Latex-free disposable gloves at Mrs. RWP's insistence. I didn't have to worry about other people looking at me funny as they looked just as funny.

For those of you with inquiring minds, I did wear other things besides just gloves and a mask.

Now that you have that lovely visual in your head, I will sign off for now.

There really isn't anything to blog about today but that 150 goal is ever before me.

P.S. -- In my humble opinion, this post makes no sense at all.

  1. Congratulations on your 50th post! It made me smile. So that is always a good thing.

    1. Kathy, I agree. Smilling is much better than frowning.

  2. I won't ask what you wear when not in the grocery store. I'm doing well if I average one week. How do people find the time to write something every day? Then again, my average word count must be about 700. Perhaps I chould write them in instalments.

    1. Tasker Dunham, I go in spurts. Sometimes I can write several posts in one week and sometimes I do well to churn out only one. So far this year I am averaging slightly better than three posts a week but I feel myself slowing down. It is difficult to write a post and to try to decide what I should wear to the grocery store simultaneously.

  4. I enjoy your posts too and congratulations on reaching 50! That is certainly more than double what I have done and I started on January 1st. At this point I am struggling to make one post a week and find that pretty sad! I have the greatest admiration for those that post daily.

I would not worry about making the early "Senior Hour" at the grocery store. I have been told that is when they have the worst crowd. We try to go mid-morning like you did and find there are not too many other shoppers as the senior crowd has just cleared out. We wear masks but not gloves. I do carry hand sanitizer with me and we use that when we leave the store. I didn't like shopping before and now I like it even less!

    You two take care!

    1. Bonnie, for the most part I too have the greatest admiration for those that post daily, but there are one or two who really shouldn't bother to post that often.

When you say "we" try to go mid-morning and "we" wear maska but not gloves" is it the royal we or do you go with someone else? I go alone and Mrs. RWP stays at home.

    2. My husband, Tom, and I go together. However, the last time we went I noticed the store had started requesting only one person per shopping cart so we may start taking turns!

  5. You are streets ahead of me. I have managed 36 and most weeks one is the best I can manage.
Shoppers in our stores look (mostly) surprisingly normal. Which may say things about my perception of normality.

    1. Sue, "managing" 36 so far this year means you are doing better than two a week, which is nothing to sneeze at.

  6. Sometimes, very readable blogposts are caved out of ordinariness and this was one of those times. One could make a pretty long fence with fifty posts but with one hundred and fifty posts it may become known as The Great Fence of Canton. Stay safe sir.

    1. Neil, thank you for the compliment I think I detected in your comment. Damn them with faint praise, is that your modue operandi?
