...you ought to read this article:
The Light Shines in the Darkness
It's from National Review, the conservative magazine started many years ago by William F. Buckley. The article is in the current issue, and is by Kevin D. Williamson. Apparently one's middle initial is very important at National Review.
In case the article doesn't display properly, just go to www.nartionalreview.com and you should be able to find it there.
A Happy Christmas to one and all. Peace on earth, and good will to all mankind from:
Robert H. Brague
Eleanor C. Brague
Abby the Dog
God
not necessarily in that order.
Hello, world! This blog began on September 28, 2007, and so far nobody has come looking for me
with tar and feathers.
On my honor, I will do my best not to bore you. All comments are welcome
as long as your discourse is civil and your language is not blue.
Happy reading, and come back often!
And whether my cup is half full or half empty, fill my cup, Lord.

Fast away the old year passes
(Fa la la la la, la la la la) Hail the new, ye lads and lasses (Fa la la la la, la la la la) but before you do, before...
I read the article and as it is Christmas Day I will make no other comment about it. I hope that you and Eleanor and Abby enjoy the rest of your Christmastime.
ReplyDeleteYorksire Pudding, a remarkable show of self-resraint. Happy New Year filled with peace, good health, happiness, and prosperity to you and Shirley and Frances and Stewart and Phoebe and Ian and Sarah.
DeleteThe final paragraph was very powerful, particularly the last sentence (a very long sentence). I listened to it being read to me as this was an option. I think for all people, whether they are overtly religious or not, this paragraph has a meaning that everybody should listen to and being able to relate to in their own way. Thank you for sharing. I would never have heard it otherwise.
ReplyDeleteRachel, I'm glad to learn that you enjoyed it.
DeleteBy the way, I believe in my comment I said overtly religious when I really meant overly religious although either would fit but the meaning I wished for was that of overly.
ReplyDeleteRachel, overtly can be a turn-off for others.
DeleteSometimes the only reason I am not in utter despair is because I know the light overcomes.
ReplyDeleteI really love your crocheted cloths. What a wonderful skill to have and what heirlooms to pass down
kylie, overcoming light scatters despair every time.
DeleteIt is not Dec. 25th today, and I confess I'm too tired tonight to read anything more, but wanted to wish you two a very Merry and God-Blessed Christmas. We've had Covid AGAIN over the holiday, so all festivities were/are on hold. We're all mending well and have been enjoying the 3-4 inches of snow and ice outside while we recuperate. Glad to see you're still posting marvelous blog-offerings, Bob! Happy Holidays to you and Ellie....and Abby the dog! Pamela J. Doyle p.s. those b'danas are a treasure to cherish, for sure!
ReplyDeletePamela J. how wonderful to hear from you again after such a long time. Hopefully 2022 will be better for all of us than 2021. A side note: out second oldest grandson Matthew, 25, became engaged to a girl named Katy on Thanksgiving Eve, and her mother's maiden name was Pam Doyle. Upon learning that fact, I thought at once of you!
