Incomprehensible on so many levels

You want incomprehensible? I'll show you incomprehensible.

Right here. Published in The Washington Post, it's the complete transcript of the hour-long telephone conversation President Donald J. Trump had a couple of days ago with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

I urge you to try to read it from start to finish.

Things get curiouser and curiouser.

Daily.

Maybe it will all be over soon.

I certainly hope so.

  1. I have read large tracts of it and it seems to me that he has, prime facie, left himself open to various criminal charges although I say that using my common sense, (sic to the comma)and reasonable knowledge of general constitutional law which I appreciate is not US based. I have to be honest and say that the constitutional situation on your side of the pond at the moment scares the you know what out of me.

  2. Even over here we saw that. And shuddered. Both the man and his enablers (too many enablers) appall me.

    1. I have been thinking about it since I posted my original comment. Your current President's behaviour over the last four years and the fact that he has not been called to account over it has diminished my respect for your country. Harsh, but true.

    2. Sue, the House of Representatives voted to impeach him. The Senate did not convict, so he remained in office. Same thing happened to Bill Clinton during his presidency. Governors can be recalled but presidents cannot.

  3. I listened to the 1 hour and 2 minute call yesterday. I was curious about the speech inflections and other things that might be lost in reading the transcript. It is definitely enlightening. I am finding it difficult to make a neutral statement so I'll stop now.

    1. Emma, not many can remain neutral where Donald Trump is concerned.

    2. I don't need to be neutral about him. I do try to be kind to those who believe he will make their world better. They will be disillusioned soon enough.

  4. It is sad. He needs help but I doubt if he would accept it.

  5. Bonnie, he’s definitely an “I’d rather do it myself” type of guy.

  6. Seriously. I have no interest in listening to this conversation.

  7. Alphie, I didn’t listen to it, but I read the whole thing.

  8. I suspect if the truth is revealed it will be so devastating that it will make the US almost impossible to govern - the scale of the malfeasance is so wide and deep, all faith in governance will be lost. We are lucky here in that there is so little difference between Starmer and Johnson that electoral fraud would pass unnoticed.

  9. Adrian, when Republicans act like Democrats here, they are called RINOs (Republican In Name Only). I know Boris Johnson but I am so provincial and U.S.-focused that Starmer is a name unknown to me. I suspect that President Trump’s biggest crime is that he is an outsider, not a career politician, not part of the Washington “swamp”. To me his greatest failure is that he has been unable to drain it.

I think that today (Georgia runoff elections) and tomorrow (joint session of Congress for the purpose of counting the electoral votes officially) are two of the most important days our land has seen in many years. How either of them turns out is anybody’s guess. We will find out shortly.

  10. Bob, we had BRINO Brexit in name only. Time will tell if that's what we have.
I don't particularly like Trump but he is a breath of fresh air. He's not a kiddy sniffer. He isn't in it for the money. If he goes the western world goes with him.

  11. Sorry but I couldn't read the whole transcript.
I am thankful for Brad Raffensberger and all those people who stand up for the truth.
Who was it that said the only way for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
Thankful for those good men and women.
The rest need to stop listening to "Trump media". Seriously the man is insane. God help us!

    1. Well my post was more prophetic than I realized. The whole world knows Trump now. Pence ended up being more honorable than I gave him credit, so I would call him a "good man".

  12. I am not about to subscribe to "The Washington Post" but I can imagine the script and the infantile contributions of one of the speakers - the one who wasn't listening.
