Blogger is being dicey and I'm not feeling too peppy myself

Wouldn't you know it, just when I finally figure out how to create new posts and modify existing ones using my Apple phone, my desktop computer's version of Blogger has decided to prevent me from reaching my own blog, at least with the browser and search engine I use, which are Mozilla Firefox and DuckDuckGo, respectively. The only way I know of at present to get around this fine kettle of fish dilemma is by clicking on links to myself in the blogs of my friends who have added me into their bloglists.

I don't have a bloglist, at least not one showing on my blog. My bloglist is in my head, and I usually access my favorite blogs in alphabetic order by blogname, starting with Adrian's and then Neil's and then Michelle's and on and on through Graham's and kylie's and ending with Ian's and Tasker's. My old friends Remus and Carolina and Daphne and the other Ian have all disappeared from Blogland. For the longest time I continued going to both Frances's and Kate's places but they seem to have stopped blogging as well so I stopped going to their places. Pam still blogs occasonally so I have high hopes for her. I no longer read JG's as he tends to be too earthy for my tastes. In recent months I have added Bonnie's and Red's and Linda's and Rachel's to my mental list. I do check in at Sue's but rarely leave a comment. Lowell has slowed down significantly. Dr. John Linna in Neenah, Wisconsin, has been dead for several years.

Some of you know who these people are and some of you don't have a clue.

Maybe I am just talking to myself here, or into thin air.

I will come back when I am in a better frame of mind.

Don't take any wooden nickels.

  1. You are not talking into thin air ... I hear you! I am having no blog issues using Chrome, maybe you should consider downloading. I am going to stick with the old blogger as long as "they" let me. Happy weekend.

    1. Hello, Helen! I discovered that I can still use Firefox but the interference went away when I stopped using DuckDuckGo. See my answer to Graham below.

  2. I stopped using Safari and Mozilla a while ago and use Chrome. I have not had any problems since I have been using Chrome. Having said that I'm puzzled by you saying that you can't reach your blog. Does that mean you can't sign into it?

    1. Graham, I have discovered something interesting. I can still use Firefox and get to my blog okay if I do not go through DuckDuckGo. I started using DuckDuckGo originally so that Google would not be able to track where I went. Chrome uses Google, so I still want to avoid that.

I can sign in fine once I get to the page, but I was having difficulty accessing the page. Seems to be DuckDuckGo, although I have used it for more than two years without previous problems.

  3. You are not talking to thin air. I'm sorry you are having blog problems and I'm sorry you are not feeling peppy. Thank you for following my blog although most of the time I only post once a week. I use Chrome and it works well. If you are worried about them tracking you, it is possible to turn that off. The only trouble I've had recently has been with a nasty troll. I hope you feel better soon.

    1. Bonnie, the part about not feeling peppy was supposed to be a joke, as in Lewis Grizzard's book title Elvis Is Dead And I'm Not Feeling Too Well Myself.

My son uses Chrome. I have sort of figured out that the problem was not Firefox, it was DuckDuckGo.

  4. I used to love getting wooden nickels. Some had good advertising.

    1. Emma, I've never actually seen a wooden nickel. Where did you get them?

    2. State fairs and various local events. Even a couple of political campaigns. The guy running (i did not vote for him but I took his nickel) was named Nichols.

  5. I have no idea what duck duck go even is and do you need a search engine or can you just save the link for your blog in a favourites/bookmarks bar on firefox?
I love that you have a mental blog list, i know who I read but I use the list to let me know who has posted and so I don't revisit blogs unless there is a new post or I am intensely curious about the answer I may receive.

    1. kylie, DuckDuckGo is the name of a search engine. When you type in a destination, it is the search engine that pokes its way through the muck and debris that is the internet and finds whats you are looking for. I think this process happens even for favourites or bookmarks.

I take it based on your final sentence that you find yourself returning to my blog again and again.
